Pennsylvania Gets a New Call Center
New call centers are starting up all over the map. First in Barbados, then in Plymouth, and now in Pennsylvania.
Globe St. reports that PLAINS TWP., PA-C3i Inc. is relocating its call center to the Poconos in Pennsylvania. C3i has signed a 10-year lease for 25,000 square feet of space for the new call center. The domestic call center for C3i is currently located in its headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey.
C3i will initially hire 100 employees for the Pennsylvania location, with a commitment to hire 129 call center employees in the next three years. Those initial hires will largely come from 300 employees laid off from the RCN Corp. facility in Herndon, Virginia.
C3i caters to the life sciences industry. It specifically chose Pennsylvania for the call center relocation because of the state’s dedication to life sciences. More than 2,000 companies employ 84,000 people in the life sciences field in Pennsylvania. The new call center facility will add to that growing numbers.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania worked hard to bring C3i into the area. It ended up offering incentives worth $1.5 million to offset the total call center cost of $4 million.
