Canadian Company Opening Maine Call Center

Stumble it!

According to WLBZ, Canadian-based Acrobat Research is planning to open a new call center in Calais, Maine. The move will bring around 200 new jobs to the area.

Acrobat performs polling operations. It currently operates Canadian call centers in Ontario and Nova Scotia. The Maine location will be Acrobat’s first call center in the United States.

The company plans to hire 75 full time and 100 part time employees. If all goes well, the call center will open by January.

The Calais area welcomes this new business, since it is having some economic difficulties. They recently lost a large number of manufacturing jobs. And voters just turned down the opening of an Native American-run racino.

Area residents can get an application for the new Maine call center at local offices in Calais: Calais City Hall, Washington County Community College, and a couple other locations.
